Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa
29 August 2001

Hi,

Just arrived in Arusha in Northern Tanzania. I had no problems whatsoever. Isn't that nice? I have yet to hear from Damien, but he ought to e-mail me by tonight.

Surface transportation refers to bus or taxi or train travel. All it means is that I'm taking a vehicle to Tanzania from Kenya. The people here are amazingly kind. I'm amazed. It's quite a relief. In Ethiopia there were tons of bums and beggars- some had leprosy, some were war vets, some lost most of their family to famine - pestering Damien & I.

On the way to Arusha I saw some cool wildlife just at the side of the road: zebras, wildebeests, and lots of Thomson's gazelles. Pretty neat.

Well, gotta go. I'll let you know what my next plans are once I hear from Damien.

Love,

Mike
